The 2009 Texas Women's Open at Eastern Hills

Eastern Hills Country Club has been the proud home of the Texas Women's Open since 2001. Over the past eight years the event has grown, the quality of players has improved, and media coverage and community interests have increased. Below are a few highlights of the 2008 tournament.

2008 Winner, Tanya Wadhwa, of McKinney, originally from India,  shot a final round 67  to win by one stroke over Mabank pro Adrienne MacDonald.  Tanya came to the last hole with a one shot lead over McDonald. On 18, McDonald hit her approach to three feet. Wadhwa was just outside at 6 feet. She had to make the putt to avoid a playoff. She lined it up and  sank it to became the youngest ever Texas Women’s Open champion at 16. Tanya will return in 2009 to defend her title.  In the fall of 2009, Tanya will play golf for SMU in Dallas.

The 2008 Texas Women's Open benefited the New Beginning Center in Garland by raising $1,700 for the charity.  The vision of the center is to promote social change that will lead to the elimination of domestic violence.
